Student Life

10:12:00

Today I thought I would talk to you guys a little about the Ups and Downs of being a student!! This blog post is mainly aimed at College and Uni students.

So Lets talk about all the advantages and good things about being a student first shall we. Discounts. This is one of the main reasons I'm a student as there's so many shops that offer up to 45% discounts such as Topshop, NewLook, H&M and so many other high street stores. To redeem these discounts you will need the UNiDAYS App which you can download from the Apple store and log in using either your college login or university login.

Something else I take as a advantage is the people you meet while being at either college or University, Its not like school where you're with the people that you've know since you started school back when you were 4 years old, It's completely different. You're classes are filled with people from places you would never of thought you would even know meanwhile have friends from there. Making new friends helps you change and grow as a person I think and its never bad to have loads of friends.

Another thing which is a bonus about being a student is all the new skills you learn while being there. Obviously you are there to learn but some people don't understand about how lucky you are to be taunt by teachers who have endless qualifications and years of experience you have got some of the best people in that subject who take the time to help and teach you about that subject in the hope that's some day you shall have a successful career in it.

So lets move onto some of the downs about being a student. Just because we might not be a college or university everyday of the week doesn't mean we are sat at home just being lazy and doing nothing because its the complete opposite well for me defiantly! I'm actually only in college for about 12 hours a week and that means less time with the teachers and equipment there, Lucky for me I have a sewing machine and equipment at home so I am able to work at home perfectly but for others that's not the case.

Stress. Everyone has is but when your trying to juggle 2 projects, 2 sketchbooks, a job and then make time for your friends and family it all gets a bit much sometimes. depending on the course and subject stress levels will be different but I know from first hand experience that creative Arts students may be a little more stressed than someone studying business. During my GCSEs my school did their best to
educate use on how to deal with stress and how mindfulness can be very helpful during hard times.  Over my Exam and stressful periods I used apps like HeadSpace which is specially for Mindfulness and to distress. I loved to come home after school and sit in my quiet room with earphones in and just use the app for 10- 30 minutes.

September Favourites

09:52:00

Oh my gosh I'm back again with another blog post! Two days in a row! Anyway as I was sat with looking out at the leaves slowly blowing in the chilly autumn breeze I thought why not tell you guys what I've been loving this last month as we are slowly moving into fall.

If you can tell by my Blog photos I am fully in the autumn mood with my scarfs and turtle necks. The first thing I will talk about is my scarf which I've actually used as my background for my photos but if you would like me to do a Autumn/Fall lookbook including it I will. Its actually from Primark for Only £4!! what a bargain. I know that because it is so cheap its likely to be falling to bits in a few months but until then I shall use it as much as I can. I love how its so bright but also autumnal at the same time. One thing about primark scarfs is that they are more like full on blankets! When ever me and my friend get cold while in college we can just grab my scarf and snuggle with it.

The next that's in my favourites I have had for quite a while but have only just started loving which is the printed candle. Not only does it look awesome but it also smells amazing. Its from the Primark Home Range which I think it was £3. The only way I can describe the smell is it smelling like what imagine my Boyfriend to smell like. Yeah I know your probably thinking how can that be a smell but seriously its smells like a mix of fresh washed cotton sheets with a boys aftershave. Anyway I love having it on my desk because its sooo cute. After you have burnt all the candle it would be great to store hair grips or something.

If you've only just started reading my blog you won't know that I am a massive Vogue Magazine fan! Well I couldn't not include last months issue with Victoria Beckham posing for the front cover! Not only need I love the different looks and pictures inside but I loved reading the articles.

One thing I've never really done is wear earrings even though I have my ears pierced but after seeing these gorgeous earrings in Topshop I've been wearing them none stop. One thing with not wearing
earrings is that I don't own a really good pair of proper gold earing that I can wear all the time because I see no point as it would be a waste of many seeing as I don't wear them enough. So when I saw these two sets of earrings at Topshop for £7.50 and £6.50 I was a little bit unsure, But they are totally worth it. They are really comfortable and don't irritate my ears. They are very high quality and are totally gorgeous. One cool thing is that one of the sets come with some small non permant Tattoos so I had fun playing with them.

I know this post is quite short but I hope you still enjoyed it. I hope to see you soon with another blog post.

What are you loving at the moment?

My 5 Fashion Tips

08:18:00

Today I thought I would do a little blog post on how I include fashion in my day to day life other than doing fashion as a course. If you're someone who's wanting to going to or interested in the world of fashion then this will hopefully be very helpful to you.

Tip 1. My very most important tip for anyone who enjoys and is interested in fashion is to read fashion Blogs and magazines this will help you find out about the latest fashion trends and designers. It's no good knowing all about the fashion 5 years ago and nothing about fashion now. Fashion is always changing and going down different paths and its important that you know that that's what you need to do as well.

Tip 2. Use a notebook or scrapbook to note down new fashion trends or favourite designers. This is very important for the people wanting to do fashion for a career. Its no good not knowing about different designers and styles for when you are developing your work or doing research for your projects. One thing that my teachers ask us to do is have a little note book where I can note down different designers and little glossaries about them so in the future when I need a designer who has a gothic style I will be able to get my book and straight away pull someone out like Gareth Pugh ( great designer, love him)

Tip 3. Have your own unique style!! Why dress like everyone else when you can stand out from the crowd. One thing I don't get a about girls in particular is that we dress the same, Why? Is it because we're to scared to stand out from everyone or is it because we don't want to draw attention to ourselves. Fashion is all about expressing yourself and showing your creative side.

Tip 4. Update and change your wardrobe. I feel like this is important because not only is fashion changing but also you as a person. If someone says to you that their the same person as they were 5 years ago or even a year ago then they are lying. A big part of my life is changing and developing as a person so having a new jumper or dress every so often is a good thing.

Tip 5. Remember Fashion is fun! Never thing that you need to be looking the best all the time because its simply never going to happen. sometimes fashion can be a scary thing which can make you feel so insecure but at other times the most beautiful person in the world. Anything can be classed as fashion you just have to be creative.

What are your fashion tips?

Fashion Student 101

13:17:00

This September if you didn't already know I started college. Taking the big leap from secondary school where everything was handed to you on a plate to college where your left alone and have to figure it out on my own. Before I go into the whole fashion student thing I thought I would talk to you a bit more about what my college experience has been like so far.

If you have told me a year ago that I would be moving from my small cute secondary school to a college that has more than 12,000 students I would of either told you that you were insane or started crying. I was so nervous to even think about moving on from school meanwhile applying and going to college interviews. As I finished my exams and said goodbye to my beloved school teachers I actually started to be excited to go to college. 3 boring months later I'm here loving life and here to tell you what I've learned while being a fashion students.

First thing first, just because I and the people on my course do fashion doesn't mean we are stuck up bitches who think we rule the school because that's the complete opposite. I think there's a huge stereotype about what fashion students are like and behave. Yeah there maybe is the odd person who thinks that they are the main character in The Devil Wears Prada but that is soon knocked out of them when the piles at work get thrown at them.

I've only been on my fashion course for 3 weeks and so far I'm completely loving it! My classes are separated into 3 different types Fashion designing this is where we do designers research, our own designing and planning on our project. Next is production which is where we use all the big industrial machines and make stuff. And last of all art.

I'm hoping to change this blog into a full time fashion blog with beauty on the side a bit. If you've got any Fashion related questions you can contact with the links below.

What course are you doing?

Glamour Magazine August Review

14:20:00

Here I am with another Glamour Review for August! Geez you guys love these types of posts and I love writing and review them! In the most I will mainly be talking about the product included with the Magazine and also the actual content.

First I'll talk about the thing that most people are interested in and that's the free product included. If anyone ever wanted to get my full attention just say "free" and you've got me hooked :). So in the August issue of the glamour magazine you got a mini version of the Benefit Gimme Brow which retails at the starting price of £18.50!! Me personally thought that maybe a little to much for what it actually does. I do really like this product as it does what it says on the bottle "Our cult-favorite gimme brow tinted eyebrow gel contains tiny microfibers that adhere to skin & hairs, creating natural-looking fullness and definition." Something else I really like about this product is the packaging, its got a unique look to it that no other beauty product has got. Same goes to the whole new Benefit eyebrow range. I if I were asked " Would you pay £18.50 for this product" I would probably say no, as there are many other products that can do the exact same but for cheaper.

Like any other month Glamour included a little sample which I always also like to review, this month its the Garnier Ultimate Blends the weightless nourishing balm. I was so happy with this mini free sample! I used the whole packet at once applying it to my damp hair and leaving for 5 minutes. After I had finished showering I blow dried and straighten my hair and noticed a huge difference of the softness and thickness of my hair. I will 100% be purchasing the real product the next time I take a trip to Boots.

Now onto the content of the magazine. I actually really enjoyed this months articles and content, you should be proud of me I for the first time ever read the whole of the magazine. One of my favourite part of the magazine was the True story 'The Girl Who escaped ISIS' this article written by Farida Khalaf really made me open my eyes and think about the growing problem effecting our problem.

I look forward to next months September issue as its the fashion issue! If you have any other magazines that you would like me to review comment them below or tweet me at @SketchToFame

My Prom Essentials

11:42:00

If you didn't already know it's prom season!! I wanted to write a blog post talking about my ideal prom choice of make up and essentials.

I'm not going to speak about every item I used for my prom look but I have listed them below. I chose to do my own make up as I was able to change and adapt it to what I exactly wanted without spending loads of money for a person to do it and then me come along and change it last minute. I only practised once before hand and was very happy with the results, when it came to actual prom night everything went surprisingly well. I went for a very natural but elegant look with no dramatic make up or false lashes. My dress was from Asos by a company called Fame and Partners, its was around the £80 which is a lot in my eyes but maybe not in others and that's the reason I opted to do my own hair and make up. For nails I had my very first manicure by my auntie which was something and went for a nice baby pink to match the colour of my dress and shoes. For accessories I had a long necklace which I got at quiz and a small white clutch bag which I picked up from primark.

One thing that was like a holy grail was my foundation which was the Rimmel London match perfection foundation which was in the colour 103 true ivory, it gave me a high amount of coverage but didn't make it look like I had just droned my face in make up. It left a nice glow and colour to my face without me looking greasy or orange.

I haven't had the chance or money to get my hands of any of the Naked eye shadow palettes but back in December when I went to the Clothes Show Live I found myself a cheap and awesome dup w7 Eye shadow Palettes. I used these for a simple look which also went with my simple, elegant style.

Face

Rimmel London match perfection 103 true Ivory
Rimmel London bb cream light
Rimmel London match perfection conclear and highlighter
Rimmel London stay matte powder
Maybelline New York master contour in light
Jelly pong pong bronzer duo

Eyes

Collection eyebrow kit
W7 in the buff
Rimmel London black liquid eyeliner

Lips

Maybelline vivid matte liquid lipstick
Model co lip liner

Glamour Magazine JULY

14:40:00

Wow it's been a while hasn't it? Now that exams are over and I'm a free person I'm restarting my blog! I can't express to you how much I've missed blogging, having to try and concentrate on revising when all you want to do is spill your feelings out onto a new page of text about the latest Rimmel product or something is very very hard!

Anyway back to my blog post, Today I thought that I would do another Glamour magazine review and Many people enjoyed reading it last time. So starting with the actual Magazine which I picked up from my local super market. Something that caught my attention straight away was the price, the July addition of the Glamour magazine is only £1 I repeat £1 and for a magazine which includes a make up product worth £16 who could say no to that?! One thing I loved about reading this magazine is the content. A lot of magazines now a days are filled with the latest celebrity scandals and popular dieting programmes, and if your anything like me then that's what you don't want to be reading. Glamour includes everything from Best Friend advice, Red carpet looks to this months summer Hairstyles, basically everything I love to read.

This month it was actually the 2016 Women Of The Year awards so a chunk of the magazine was the different nominee's and why they have been to chosen for this years awards.

Onto the part that most people will bee wanting to talk about, the goodie which was included. So you were able to chose from several different Model Co products such as Mascara, lip-gloss, lip liner and something else which I can't remember. I chose to pick the Lip liner as it came in a super cool nude colour. I've actually used this quite a lot since I got it back at the begging of this months as a full on lipstick as I still haven't had chance to get myself the actual lip stick to go with it :D I'm actually in love with the colour thought!! The lip liner comes in one colour which suits all skins tones so its good for anyone.

At the back of the magazine it also gives you a little preview of the next months issue and the product included. I am defiantly grabbing myself one next months as it includes the new Gimme Brow from Benefit which comes in two different shades. As everyone is raving about the Benefits brow range this would be a great time to test them.
